Amber Heard is in the anticipated sequel to Aquaman.
The first trailer for “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” was shown Tuesday at CinemaCon, the annual movie-theater convention, with Warner Bros. presenting an Insider presentation.
Heard, who played Aquaman’s (Jason Momoa) love interest Meera in the 2018 hit original film, appears in two brief shots of her fighting underwater in the trailer. She has no dialogue in the trailer.
Last June, a now-deleted post on Just Jared reported that Heard was being “cut” for the sequel.
“The rumor mill has continued since day one — inaccurate, insensitive, a little bit crazy,” a spokesperson for Hurd told Insider in response to the post.
Heard’s Meera character first appeared in 2017’s ” Justice League,” and then joined Momoa in 2018’s “Aquaman.”
During her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, Heard said her role in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” was greatly diminished.
“I tried really hard to stay in the movie – they didn’t want to include me in the movie,” Heard said from the stands, adding that she performed a “very pared-down version” of the character, taking her and another Action scene between characters.
If the trailer is any indication, Heard’s Meera wasn’t her main supporting role in the first film. In the sequel, instead of Aquaman and Meera working together for most of the movie, Aquaman and his half-brother Orm Marius, played by Patrick Wilson.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” hits theaters in February.
